HundertMarkStudio had always been known for bending the boundaries of art and design. His attempt to challenge the historical narrative dominated by white figures and Eurocentric ideals is by far not unique, but he adds his touch.
The idea behind the shop is simple. “What if history wasn’t so… monocultural?” “What if we remembered history the way it truly was—rich, diverse, and full of color?”
HundertMark began reimagining iconic moments in history, but instead of featuring only the faces that had always dominated textbooks and museums, he filled the scenes with people of all colors and creeds. He infused the scenes with rich, dynamic textures, showing how interwoven cultures had always been, despite the whitewashed lens through which they were often viewed.
Some might argue, “This isn’t accurate,” some would say. “This isn’t how it was.”
“But it could have been,” HundertMark would reply. “History is more complex than what we’ve been told. Why should it remain bound by the past’s narrow vision? Why can’t we see what could have been, or what was ignored?”
Plus Feminism, local culture and cult-movies 😉
